Where Were You When…

Let’s play a game.

Here’s the background:

Today on a last minute road trip with some of the girls, (yes, I realize I have gone from vacationer’s remorse to vacationer’s denial) we popped in some mixed cd’s from high school.

It was like listening to a photo album.

When we arrived at “Anytime” by Brian McKnight I literally (not literally) transported back to a family vacation around 1997. There I was wading through the ocean dramatically (surprise, surprise) listening to my walkman on the beach in FL and dreaming of love lost.

And the day I’d finally get my braces off.

The other girls in the car quickly spouted where/when they were listening to this song while it was a hit and I thought to myself, “Self, this is a fun game.”

So let’s see if I’m right.

Tell me what were you doing, what were you wearing/thinking/eating/feeling when Brian McKnight’s Anytime was on the radio. Or the last time you heard it. Or what comes to mind immediately when you hear it. No rules, just right.

Thank you and goodnight.

Listening to: 9,000 high school kids scream for Lady A.

On my mind: car seat heaters are a poor man’s back massage.
